Mini-Bauchdeckenstraffung

If the skin in the lower area of the abdomen is sagging and hanging down, this is usually the result of severe weight loss or pregnancy. During a surgical mini tummy tuck, in which, in contrast to a total tummy tuck, only the lower area of the abdomen is tightened up to the belly button, excess skin can be removed and a smooth, flat abdomen can be formed.

What happens during the procedure for a mini tummy tuck?

A mini tummy tuck is less invasive and less time-consuming than a traditional tummy tuck. It takes about an hour and can be performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia with twilight sleep.

Unlike the total abdominoplasty, the mini tummy tuck involves a shorter incision that runs parallel to the pubic hairline on the lower abdomen. The skin of the abdomen is detached from the underlying tissue up to the belly button, pulled down and tightened. The straight abdominal muscles in the lower abdominal area can also be tightened in this step. Since the tightening is performed only on the lower abdomen, the belly button does not need to be moved. Excess skin is removed and the incision is sutured using a special suturing technique. After the surgery, a bandage is applied and the mini tummy tuck is complete.

What is important after a mini tummy tuck?

The patient can leave the clinic a few hours after the procedure. Physical rest is recommended. In the weeks following the operation, the patient must wear special compression garments to support the healing process and prevent the formation of dents and bumps. Due to the shorter incision, the scars after the mini tummy tuck are smaller than those after the total tummy tuck, and they can also be easily concealed by underwear. After about one week, the patient is fit for social life again, and full physical exertion is possible again about 4 weeks after the operation.
